Name 100 Challenge Rules
The rules are simple on purpose; the challenge is your memory, not the instructions.
The basics
- Pick a challenge and hit start. You get 10:00 on the clock.
- The timer starts with your first submitted answer, not on page load.
- Type one name, press Enter. Each accepted answer appears in your list.
- No duplicates: matching ignores case, spaces, and hyphens.
- The run ends when you reach 100, the timer hits 0:00, or you tap Give Up.
- Your score, time used, and personal best appear on the end screen, ready to share.
The timer
Ten minutes is the canonical length from the original stream challenge: long enough to feel generous, short enough to cause panic at the halfway mark. The timer turns red under 30 seconds. There is no pause button; that's a feature.
Verified answers
Every variant checks your answers against a real list built from Wikidata, and anything the local list misses gets looked up live. Random typing scores zero. Spelling is forgiving: case, hyphens, and singular or plural forms all match, and common nicknames count.

When does the timer start?
The 10:00 countdown starts the moment you submit your first answer, not when the page loads, so you can read the rules calmly first.
Are answers verified?
Yes, all of them. Every variant validates against a Wikidata-backed list, with a live lookup for anything the local list misses. The original stream challenge ran on trust; this site runs on receipts.
Do duplicates count?
No. Answers are deduplicated case-insensitively, so 'Oprah' and 'oprah' are the same entry. Plural and singular forms of the same word also count once.
Is there a hard mode?
Every variant validates answers now. If you want harder, pick a list you barely know and race a friend with the share button.
Can I pause the timer?
No. Ten minutes is ten minutes. Pausing would defeat the entire point of the challenge.
